My Promise

ON the one hand, I pledge to, as accurately as possible, present information that will help people brew and enjoy beer. ON the other hand, I will also flagrantly distort facts about things just to entertain myself. Please take it with a grain of salt. Let's learn about and enjoy craft beer with a light heart (and a nice head).

January 2012: Beers, Tears & Gear

It's been such a busy month around here at Casa de M&A Brewing, I have not had the time to update the blog. For shame, and I blame it all on beer. Beers, tears and gear. That's what January has been about. I'll fill you in in more detail in subsequent posts (just wanted to make sure there's a 'January' in the list!) But here's a brief run-down to whet your whistle.

Beers
I got three brew days in this month. That has happened only once in my illustrious (three-year) career, so I'm pretty pleased.

The beers in question: A peanut butter porter, a CDA, and another pilsner.
That is one happy fermenter

Tears
The first batch, unfortunately, did not make it. It was the second batch in my illustrious career to go down the drain. As I said, stay tuned for all the gory details in the next post, but - spoiler alert! - the story may have a happy ending.

Almost a liter of tears, on a bed of bad yeast

And gear
This month saw me cross off one of my 2012 resolutions, namely to get the March pump incorporated into my brewery. The March pump I got last March. Remember? Well it's performed very well in the last two brews, I'm happy to say.
Meet the heart of my brewery, 'Pumpy'

The other bit of gear news is pretty huge, so I won't say much about it. Let's just say that I am making a significant upgrade to my brewery at the moment. I can't wait to tell you (brag) about it!

By all means check back soon for the exciting saga now in progress!
