It's been a bit since I checked in, and I've been thinking.
The honeymoon phase of brewing is over, I think. I guess there comes a time in any passion when this happens. There's that euphoric phase when you've just discovered something that completely changes your world. That leads into the mad, hungry, lust for knowledge phase in which you spend every conscious moment, and more than a few semi-conscious ones consuming and poring over information relating to your passion. At some point you reach a kind of saturation. You keep checking your sources for something new, but there isn't anything. You've got the knowledge and the skills down. Your game is not perfect, but it's pretty tight. It's still enjoyable, still sweet. But it's not full of the same juice as before. Anybody who's ever had an obsessive interest in something must have reached this plateau.
What do you do to inject new life into what you know is a lifelong passion?
